Helping Other Teams

In the Off Season
After things have calmed down after the hectic season, we offer a rookie workshop and scrimmage to other teams in our area. During this event, we explain FIRST to new students and mentors. Mentors from our team, and other teams, present their knowledge of what can be expected. We not only share information needed for building the robot, but also information on maintaining a team, such as fundraising and organization. We hosted our first scrimmage in the fall of 2009 to get local teams excited and give new FIRST members a taste of competition. We also share many documents for other teams to use as resources, such as our business, safety, and scouting plans. Visit our Skunk Zone for these documents.

During Build Season
During the build season we try to help new teams as much as possible. We start the season by helping rookie and sophomore teams build kitbots immediately after kickoff. We also mentored local team #3574 during their rookie season, the Highline High School HIGH Tekerz. We not only helped them with building, but also logistics and fundraising. Near the end of build season, we invite teams in the area to practice on our regulation game field. This allows other teams to test their robots and help each other improve.

At Competitions
Our team honors other teams during regional events. We hand out awards to other teams that recognize their sucess and hard work. These awards have included "most unique robot," "best performing," "most graciously professional," and "coolest mascot." We also try to help other teams as much as we can in the pits and we share our scouting information with other teams in the stands and post it for all to see.
