The new game was announced on January 7. The game, FIRST STEAMWORKS is a steampunk themed game. Teams work in alliances made up of three robots each to get the most points. Points are acquired by shooting balls into a boiler to build up steam. Another way to earn points is for the robots to get gears to their airship (manned by a human player). To earn additional points, the robots can climb a rope attached to the airship. You can learn more about the rules of the game here.
This year, our FRC team consists of 42 students and 25 amazing mentors! We also have an FTC team with 21 students.
Our 2017 robot, Captain Stink, is capable of shooting fuel into the high boiler, placing gears, and climbing. It uses a refined version of the 2016 drive base with 6 CIMs and belted driveshafts. This robot has perhaps evolved the most out of all our designs since the first competition. A ground gear collector is being added along with various improvements in the turret shooter, hopper, and climber.
